Two important milestones for Ekola Flats Wind Project and Gateway West

At the September 6th Wyoming Industrial Siting Council hearing in Rawlins for Ekola Flats, the ISC voted to issue their permit for the project.  This 250 Megawatt wind project near Medicine Bow is targeting a construction start date for Q2, 2019. and a commercial operations date by Q4 2020.  Ekola Flats part of Invenergy will be transferred to Rocky Mountain Power and part of their Energy Vision 2020.

On Tuesday, September 4, the Carbon County Commissioners issued a  county conditional use permit to the Gateway West Transmission Line project. Rocky Mountain Power will construct and operate 191.4 miles of electric transmission lines and substation facilities.  The facilities will be in Carbon and Sweetwater Counties between the planned Aeolus Substation, about 10 mi northwest of Medicine Bow and the existing Jim Bridger Substation near Superior ; and between the Shirley Basin Substation, north of Medicine Bow, and the Standpipe Substation near Hanna.
